Every life has a purpose, a song to write.  The rhythm and beat varies uniquely for each person.  The lyrics change as we go through life, sometimes for better, sometimes for worse.  But one thing remains the same for all.  We all desire a beautiful life song, one that is free from guilt and shame and full of peace and joy.  LifeSong Counseling offers empathetic, client-centered therapeutic interventions to support authentic relationships and genuine healing.

The Goal at LifeSong Counseling, LLC is to provide emotional healing for individuals and couples with the hope of creating thriving families and communities.

Couples and Marriage Counseling

Almost 70% of arguments couples have are perpetual fights.  Couples can learn to dialogue about their conflict, turn toward one another in adversity and stress, and strengthen their friendship and emotional connections with one another.  Rebecca is a Level-Three Trained Gottman Therapist and offer evidenced-based interventions to help couples thrive in their relationship that are supported by over 40 years of research done by John and Julie Gottman.

EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing)

EMDR is a structured therapy that encourages the patient to focus briefly on the trauma memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation (typically eye movements), which is associated with a reduction in the vividness and emotion associated with the trauma memories. EMDR is helpful in healing from trauma and PTSD symptoms as well as other concerns such as anxiety, depression, OCD, grief and pain.  Rebecca is currently training to become Certified as an EMDR therapist.

Healing in the Aftermath of an Affair

I help post-affair couples determine their direction, find healing, and rebuild trust in their relationship.

Experiencing the aftermath of a betrayal can be devastating for both partners.  Couples who talk about the affair with one another are more likely to stay together.  Those who attempt to move forward without talking about it tend to break up. (Vaughn, 2002).

Couples who are healing from a betrayal can turn toward one another, learn how to rebuild their relationship and strengthen their connection with one another.

Who is My Hero?

I was recently asked this question.  It made me pause to consider and I did not have a quick answer.  Later that day, I met with several new clients and couples.  And then the answer dawned on me!

My hero is anyone who has the courage to ask for help.  My hero is someone who agrees to meet with a complete stranger, trusting that person will listen to their story, and trusting they will find relief from pain, hurt and conflict.  It takes a courageous person to take the first step and meet with a therapist for the first time, not knowing what to expect and then to share things that, in some cases, are the worst about themselves.

I do not take that lightly.  It is a humbling experience to see this courage in people as I meet them for the first time.  I consider it an honor to hold a healing and sacred place for those who are seeking freedom from trauma, addictions, depression, anxiety, affairs and betrayals.
